They are fabulous -- soft, thick and pleasant to touch. They had no smell at all when they came out of the package, which totally amazed me. They also do a fabulous job: the (waterproof) mattress under the pad has never even been damp. After 15 months of nonstop use they look and feel like new. In terms of drying, these take about 15-20 minutes longer (on low heat) than the rest of my daughter's laundry to be dry. Originally I wasn't sure whether I should spend the money on these mattress pads, but I now feel that it was money very well spent, and I can unreservedly propose them to anyone seeing for a nice alternative to the primary mattress pads out there.
